    GE TALARIA LIGHT VALVE PROJECTOR
    "Well, I walked into an auditorium and they had a GE Talaria projector playing a laser disc of Olivia Newton-John on a 12-foot by 8-foot wall. It was great! The old AV genes in me said 'Wow! This is a neat product and I have to do this"….The Talaria was a 0,000 projector, used most commonly in closed-circuit TV. …The Pope owned two, Hugh Hefner owned about a dozen and they were all over the Pentagon and in flight simulation. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen had one, Steve Jobs had one, and we rented them to all the big rock groups for concerts, including eight for the Rolling Stones for their Steel Wheels tour" (Robert Brockman in Gary Kayye’s rave eNewletter, vol. 2, issue 10, 2004).
    Several years ago, when we got it, the projector was tested to turn on. It has not been turned on since then. GE Talaria Model 4PJ4500C2; Serial # J144X4500C2A104; 117 V; 50/60 Hz; 12 Amp.; 900 watts; Date of Manufacture 1/87. In the GE Talaria, the scanning pattern is produced by an electron beam on a thin film of oil. This serves as a light valve through which light from a powerful lamp (via a mirrored surface under the oil) is passed to the screen. Three such valves in one projector, superimposed, are used to produce colour pictures. This is a great collection piece. Very likely there are only a few of these instruments that escaped to be scraped.
    The machine will be shipped in a pallet by freight. Buyer pays $ 420 for preparation of the pallet and shipping in the 48 continental contiguous states. Shipping charges are for shipping to a commercial address with a loading dock or forklift. Additional charges should be paid for shipping to a residential address ($ 70.00) or/and that if a truck with lift-gate ($ 70.00) is required. Buyer can pick up the machine from us without any shipping/handling charges. Buyer can arrange his/her own shipment and pay $ 100 for the preparation of the pallet.
