Three Tools or Parts Marked NASA with Serial Numbers
I picked this box of parts up at an auction a few years ago and never really gave it a second look. Recently we've been going through some of our inventory and rediscovered this box marked: The Boeing Co. - Michoud Operations, Launch Systems Branch. I ran a search on the name and it came up that they were involved with the Apollo Program which ran from 1963 to 1972.
In the box are three parts, two are adjustable sphere clamps, according to some handwriting on the lid of the box.
They are all made of heavy high quality machined steel. The two pieces with the round bases are engraved NASA with a serial number - The third piece with the four legs is not marked. The large silver turn knobs have a taped on white paper label which reads: Not valid after Jul 24 '68. The two with the round bases also bear a white paper label on their columns that read NASA with a serial number.
All three pieces are in excellent condition with the exception of the unmarked four legged piece which has a couple of rust spots and shows a little wear.
The two clamps are 6 3/4" high at the column - the bases are 6" in diameter and 1" high. The other piece is 4 1/4" wide, 2 3/8" high, 5" across at the legs.
To think that these were actually used in the Apollo Program is amazing.  Where are you ever going to find something like this again.
