Double Sixth Plate Ambrotypes of stately man and wife.  This is a gorgeous pair.  The man is fabulous...obviously born in the 1700s, and wearing a superb set of octagonal spectacles.   His mutton chops are wonderful.    Both the man and his wife have nice tinting.   They were backed by black lacquer, which has, unfortunately cracked.   The glass itself is perfect.....no issues.  Only the lacquer is cracked.   If someone with patience could remove the lacquer and re-back the ambrotypes, this would be a stunning pair.....definite showpiece.  Nice case....one hinge is missing a pin.   Nice working clasp.    Feel free to ask questions and bid with confidence.
