RARE LOT of 6 VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI COUTURE FASHION CATALOGS, 4 ARE COFFEE TABLE SIZE
THESE CATALOGS ARE HANDSOME AND IMPRESSIVE.
1)  RARE VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI FASHION CATALOG COLLEZIONE AUTUNNO INVERNO 1991/92 RITRATTI IN SLEEVE
This catalog (as well as 3 others also up for auction) were brought back from the Salone del Mobile held in Milan in 1993 and used as a prop for The Home Show for ABC Television.
Inside the cover is tucked an invitation which reads:
“A personal invitation from Giorgio Armani to preview his Fall/Winter 1991-92 Collections for Men and Women.  Please join us in the boutique to view the collections at your convenience.

The front cover folds back on itself and has a cut out revealing the title “Ritratti”.
The black and white photography is on heavy gloss paper and each page is suitable for framing.
SIZE OF ITEM:  Approximately 11.5” x 15.5”
Condition:
The catalog:  has some wear mainly at the top and bottom of the cover assumably due to removal and replacement into the sleeve.  The pages appear to be pristine.  There are slight dentations in the upper and lower edge corners.
The sleeve:  shows discoloration due to age and possibly due to light exposure.  There are some overall dentations as well as some creasing along the spine and other edges.
2)  RARE VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI FASHION CATALOG MARRAKECH COLLEZIONE PRIMAVERA ESTATE 1992 IN SLEEVE
This catalogue is more like a coffee table book with photograph after photograph of high fashion.  The sleeve as well as the dustcover are high gloss.  The pages are also high gloss; heavy stock.  The book cover is linen.
Inside the cover is tucked an invitation which reads:
“From Milan to Marrakech to your corner of the world.  Please join us in the boutique for a journey through the GIORGIO ARMANI Spring/Summer 1992 collection.

SIZE OF ITEM:  Approximately 11.5” x 15.5”
Condition:
The sleeve:  has some scuffing, scraping, discoloration, fraying at the opening of the sleeve at the bottom, and some creasing.
The dust cover: has some pitting, mild scraping, and a dent at the bottom of the spine.
The catalogue:  The dent visible on the dust cover is also evident on the catalogue binding.  However, the linen binding is otherwise in excellent condition as is the color.  The pages appear to be in pristine condition and it appears likely this book may never have been opened.
3)  RARE VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI FASHION CATALOG SPRING SUMMER COLLECTION 1991 STORIA D’AMORE IN SLEEVE
This is a unique fashion catalog.  Pages are suitable for framing.
A “love story” narrative, in English, is woven amongst the pages of dramatic black and white photography on heavy gloss paper.  The story revolves around four impossibly beautiful people, four lovers, Delia, Paige, Donna, and (actress) Famke (Janssen) and the man that pursues them all; a man never named in the text.  The story evokes classic Hollywood of the Thirties.  The mood of the photographs suggests Film Noire.
The story begins with this:
“Story, stories, hypotheses of love:  if I fell in love with you, or with you, or with another, or with someone else, or with all of them. In the fleeting moments of youth, in the fragmentary and brief emotions of our years, in the romantic philosophy that can still be (and is) expressed in the honeyed and absolute verses of the songs of the Beatles forever, the object of love changes nervously, voraciously, and almost unconsciously, as rapidly as smiles, gazes, and desires shift.”

Condition:
The catalog: shows very little wear, suggesting it has rarely been out of the sleeve, and indeed it may never have been out of the sleeve because it was extremely difficult to remove.  When I attempted to replace the book back into the sleeve, rough edges inside the sleeve prevented me from sliding the book all the way back and I did not want to force it for fear of damaging the book.
The sleeve: has damage, mainly creasing, along the edges and spine.
4)  RARE VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI FASHION CATALOG COLLEZIONE AUTUNNO INVERNO 1990/91 IN SLEEVE
Citazioni da opere di (translation: Quotes from works by) Ernest Hemingway, Dino Buzzati, Tao Yuan Ming
The photography in the first section, with quotes from works by Hemingway evoking 1950 Cuba, is in sepia tones.  The second section, with quotes from works by Dino Buzati is in black & white.  The third and final section of the book, with quotes from works by Tao Yuan Ming, features high gloss color photography.
Pages are suitable for framing.

The book includes a ‘dust’ cover.  All paper, which includes the dust cover, the book’s pages, as well as the sleeve are made of the same ‘linen-like’ paper.
SIZE OF ITEM:  Approximately 11.5” x 15.5”
Condition:  Overall, the book and its pages are in very good condition.  The top edge of the dust cover has some slight creasing and the upper right corner of the book has a slight ‘dent’ which affects the first third of the book and tapers off until it disappears.  The bottom edge of the dust cover has some slight creasing and there is a small stain next to the spine at the bottom.  The very last page of the book has a short “dash” of some kind of black residue in a line about 1/2” long in two places and the darker of the two is transferred to the page it touches; the very last page of the book.  This is very minor.  The dust cover is soiled, creased, and has scuffs on the edges, and has staining but is basically intact.
5) RARE VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI ADVERTISING ‘STORY’ BOOKLET
NOTE:  THIS IS A SMALL-SIZED BOOKLET
14 page ‘story book’  “Where there are no customers.  Only guests.  No trends.  Only clothes……”
This item was given out as a gift to celebrities at a fashion event.
6.5” x 4” x 1/16”
Heavy stock.
Condition:  Near perfect.  Some minor soiling - which could probably be removed with a gum eraser.  Back cover has a small circular impression near the middle of the binding.
6) RARE VINTAGE GIORGIO ARMANI COLLEZIONE AUTUNNO INVERNO 1993/94 8” x 10.5”
Front and back covers have foldouts.
Condition:  There is a small mark at the bottom of the front cover just below the date.  There is a small crease at the bottom of the back cover.
