    SUPERB 1/9 PLATE AMBROTYPE - TODDLER HOLDING CHINA DOLL IN MINT THERMOPLASTIC CASE -
    You are considering a wonderful ninth plate ambrotype containing a cutie pie holding onto a small China Head doll wearing an amazingly beautiful dress. I happen to love the child's off the shoulder outfit as well, but what really makes this image so appealing are the layers of pattern seen in the draped fabric placed over the photographer's chair and the patterns in both the child's and doll's clothing. The doll's facial features are even visible in this image which is quite rare, especially in ambrotypes. Need I mention the fact that this was only a toddler and she remained quite still and poised for her likeness to be affixed to this glass plate. The portrait resides in a very rare case entitled, "THE BLIND BEGGAR" in mint condition. An absolutely fantastic cased ambrotype would make a great addition to any antique photo or doll collection.     Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased image and as part of my description. The ninth plate Ambrotype contains excellent contrast, tonal range and beautiful sharpness, especially for such a young sitter. Warm toned tinting was applied to this toddler's face. The thermoplastic case is in mint condition. Berg's bible on 19th Century cases lists this example as very rare and a value of 0.00 by itself. Note: Ambrotypes containing children with dolls are extremely hard to find these days. I am sure you will enjoy this cased image in your collection for many years ahead.
